TWILIGHT: NEW MOON (REVIEW)
TWILIGHT Saga: New Moon has broken US box office records by earning £44m in its first 24 hours of opening.
New Moon easily trounced the success of previous record-holding blockbusters, including Batman: The Dark Knight, which made £40m in its first day.
Since the vampire film began screening to the general public in the UK and US on Friday, it has grossed a hefty £84m across the pond.
And although sales figures on these shores are not available until Thursday, fans and critics alike can be sure the flick will experience a similar wave of success over here.
The picture took over £1 million in ticket pre-sales – making it the fastest advance-selling movie of 2009.
And considering New Moon cost just £30m to create, the Twilight Saga, which its stars admit they thought would only be a small-scale film, has far exceeded global expectations.

As the flick based on Stephanie Meyer’s novels has not even been out in cinemas for a week yet – we can expect to hear much more where that came from.
